Lines of Washi

             I created these line drawings to show the processes of the Washi sisters making their work. The       Washi sisters embrace the qualities the Washi paper material by creating different ways and skills to create art out of the paper. There is a sense of passion and strong connection that the sisters bring to their work that brings out the beauty to the artwork and the paper. There is much appreciation and respect they have towards Washi paper. 

           The line drawings are separated in different paper pieces to represent the pieces of Washi paper used in the exhibition. The pieces of drawings on the paper interact with a light brushwork that flows organically in the background to show the deep stories told.
