The Propeller Project
The Propeller Project was envisioned as an interpretive
planning project for Art & Design Education undergraduate students at OCAD
University. The intent of this project was to enhance visitor experience of the
Propeller Art Gallery, Toronto, and of the exhibition, Washi Sisters - A journey.
Exploring this particular exhibition, with this particular gallery, and its director Tom Taylor, and with this group of six accomplished artists was a gift. The range of visual, tactile, and performative experiences provided by the gallery and artists through the fragile materiality of the paper, the subtle depths achieved in practice, the innovative use of paper in dance, and the welcoming social environment all contributed to a multi-layered experience and to building the gallery community, but this also enhanced our experiences as well. We are grateful for their generosity, their talent, and their passion which informed this project work.
Here on this site, students provide a range of creative and
critical responses to the Washi Sisters - A journey at Propeller Art Gallery,
Toronto during the month of October 2022. Each contributing student is named
and his/her/their contribution can be viewed.
